In the experimental setup Let-It-Grow, different plant seeds are used to compose human portraits. Mustard seeds, sunflower seeds, fenugreek, lentils, and sesame seeds, rice, fennel, as well as juniper berries, beans, and chickpeas all have different germination conditions; nevertheless, they all need light, warmth, and water. The seed portraits can grow if environmental conditions allow. We watered the portraits several times a day and exposed them to full light conditions, in the hope that some of the plant seeds would sprout. A time-lapse video shows how the portraits actually really germinate, grow, change, stagnate, or even die. Let-It-Grow demonstrates that growth is based on a delicate balance between inner strength and optimal environmental conditions.
