Gegenwartsmaschine (present machine) is an interactive installation made from a black box with a hole. The visitor is invited to peek through the hole and observe what is inside the box. However, until the very moment the interaction takes place, the content of the box consists of multiple states of present, all equally possible. Only in the instant when the visitor peeks inside, do all possible states of present collapse into a single one, which is represented as an endless colored space. The color of this space is determined by the interaction itself. The outlined process, which refers to knowledge in quantum physics and system theory, can be summarized as: interaction moulds present.
