Manuela Naveau • New Professor for Critical Data

The University of Arts Linz starts the winter semester with the new professorship “Critical Data “, which is unique in Austria.

Prof. Manuela Naveau, editor at the Linz University of Arts (Interface Cultures) questions among other things our use of technologies, addresses social questions about the disappearance of privacy and examines how data, algorithms and self-learning systems are connected to our world of life.
Manuela Naveau is an artist, researcher, scientist and curator of Ars Electronica. Together with the artistic director Gerfried Stocker, she developed the Ars Electronica Export department and operated it for almost 18 years. Naveau teaches at the Linz Art University and took on teaching assignments at the Paris Lodron University in Salzburg and the Donau University Krems. Her book ′′ Crowd and Art – Art and Participation on the Internet ′′ was published in 2017 by transcript publishing house, Germany. It is based on Manuela Naveau’s dissertation, for which she was awarded the Award of Excellence by the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economics in 2016
