Biblioradio

Biblioradio

Biblioradio is a frankenstein-esque form of media, a hybrid book-radio. Its electronic components integrated into the book as a substrate, electric-cord-tail emerging from the spine, Biblioradio represents a perverted form of media-redundancy. Part of a series of misused media apparatuses, this project employs techniques of creative misuse, repurposing in order to subvert the intended function of data storage and transmission. Musing on books’ ability to hold more than the content of their pages, picking up and making audible the radio frequencies of the surroundings, the work also resonates with the omnipresence of media technology and its habit of encrusting itself on the surface of reality.
